Barry Scott Hatfield, age 56 years, a resident of rural Grantsburg and a former resident of Santa Clarita, California and Effingham, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, October 8, 2017, at 2:35 AM at Parkway Manor in Marion, Illinois.

Barry was born July 7, 1961 in Fullerton, California. He was the second of five children born to Larry and Lorraine (McCreary) Hatfield.

Barry is survived by: his mother Lorraine Boyd of Marion; his father Larry (Dottie) Hatfield of Junction City, California; his children Nicole (Jud) Trovillion of Grantsburg and Josh (Andrea) Hatfield of Carterville; 3 grandchildren Brynlee Trovillion, Lillian Hatfield, and Brody Trovillion; 3 brothers Dave (Lisa) Hatfield and Gary (Hilda) Hatfield all residing in Santa Clarita, California and Christopher (Geoffrey Addison) Hatfield of Hollywood, California; a sister Gina (Jason) Hatfield Alaniz of Santa Cruz, California; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Barry was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had been employed as the general manager of Holland Energy in Beecher City, IL for approximately 15 years.

Barry was not just a great man. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, father, pop-pop and friend. His smile lit up a room. His hugs made you feel safe and loved. There are no words to say just how much he will be missed. His love will live on in those he has left behind while he shows his amazing talent playing guitar with those who went before him.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public services.
