Carolyn's Story

Carolyn Blankenship, age 81 of Keyesport, passed away at Helia Healthcare in Greenville on Thursday, October 5, 2017.

Carol was born on August 19, 1936, in Brownstown, Illinois, a daughter of Tom and Flossie (Kistler) Croster. She married Roger Blankenship on June 17, 1956, and they were later divorced.

Ms. Blankenship is survived by 6 sons Bradley Blankenship of Salem, Gregory Blankenship (Tyra) of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, John Blankenship (Christina) of Keyesport, Daniel Blankenship (Deb) of Teutopolis, David Blankenship (Sue) of Keyesport, and Randall Blankenship of Keyesport; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law Charlotte Croster.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Flossie Croster; a daughter-in-law Karen Blankenship; a brother Larry Croster; and a sister Patsy Schultz.

Carol was a member of the Columbus Baptist Church. She never met a stranger, and because of her outgoing personality she had many friends. Carol worked as a waitress at many local restaurants, including the Ten Pin Bowling Alley in Carlyle. She also worked at B&M Seating in Carlyle. Carols hobbies included cooking, shopping and going to yard sales.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 9, 2017, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Bruce Sasse, officiating. Interment will follow at Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 3:00 6:00 P.M. and on Monday morning from 8:00 10:00 A.M.
