Donald E. Hodges, U.S. Army, Ret., age 81, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at his home. He was born August 11, 1936 in Bay Village, Arkansas, the son of the late Valca (nee Campbell) and Elton Hodges.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Karin (nee Beuscher) Hodges; sisters Laurita (the late Delmar Sonny) McEntire, Annette (the late Shorty) Gillespie, Betty (Bill survives of Imperial, Missouri) Matthews, Sue Firestine, and Rhonda (Jim survives of Illinois) Pinion; and brothers Walt (the late Geraldine) Hodges, Tom Hodges, and Gary Hodges.
He is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Greg) Wooldridge of Festus, and Monica (Lotfi) Herzi of Los Gatos, California; brother Glen Hodges of Festus; grandchildren Mark (Lisa) Wooldridge, Jenny Steward, Ilian Herzi, Lazare Herzi, and Leila Herzi; and great-grandchildren Jack and Ben Wooldridge and Jake and Anna Steward.
While in the U.S. Army he was stationed worldwide and served with NATO and SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe). During his career he was a soldier, recruiter and teacher with the Army, and a photographer at West Pointe Military Academy.
Visitation from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral Services 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 8, 2018 at the home, officiated by Pastor Danny Loesch of High Ridge Church of Christ. Interment with full military honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials in his memory are preferred to Next Step for Life or Hope Hospice.
