Harry Charles Busse, 93, of Farina passed away at 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter with a two-hour viewing prior to the service. Reverend William Emrick will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter. Memorials may go to American Kidney Association, St. Peter's Lutheran Church or donor's choice. Harry was born on March 24, 1924, in St. Peter, the son of William E. and Mathilda (Schnarre) Busse. He married Mary A. Parkes on April 25, 1947, in Auburn. He was in the U.S Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on the USS Alabama Battleship from 1943 to 1945. He was a grain and livestock farmer since 1949. He was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served in numerous offices. He was also a member of the Fayette County Farm Bureau, St. Peter American Legion and the La Grove Community School District Board.
He is survived by his two sons, Donald Busse (wife Sheryl) of Farina, and Kenton Busse (wife Nancy) of Wentzville, Missouri; one daughter, Connie Parmenter of Farina; and four grandchildren, Ben Parmenter of Seattle, Washington, Aaron Parmenter of Edwardsville, Tim Busse of Oswego, and Heather Bonsell (husband Garrett) of Hillsdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mathilda Busse; wife, Mary Busse; daughter, Betty Busse in infancy; one sister, Erma Fogler; and brother-in-law, Richard Fogler.
