Helen Joyce Owens of Newton passed away at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at her home.
Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 16. A private family service will be held at a later date. Helen was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Edgewood, the daughter of the late Albert Hockman and the late Tressa (Cohea) Hockman. In June of 1994, she married Richard Owens in Bogota.
She was employed by GM and ADM factories in Decatur, IL, and also worked cleaning homes. She loved flowers and gardening.
Helen is survived by her husband, Richard of Newton; son, David (Valerie) Larck of Lovington; stepsons, Mike Owens of Louisville and Richard (Gina) Owens of Watson; daughters, Loretta (Harold) Marsh of Olney, and Lawanda (Butch) Woodward of Thornton, CO; sister, Janice (John) Carter of Gassville, AR; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Jamie Owens; brother, Robert Hockman; sister, Nina Everett; and granddaughter, Ashla Owens.
