James Richard Beckman, age 77, of Sebring, Florida passed away at his home Oct. 1, 2017 while recuperating from surgery.
Jim was born in Richmond, Indiana on Feb. 7, 1940 to Kenneth John Beckman and Dorothea Virginia Beckman. He was an Air Force veteran, serving from February 1958 until March 1960. While on active duty he was stationed in Korea before being honorably discharged. He was a member of the BPOE, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus.
Like his father, Jim was employed by Pennsylvania Railroad. He began his career in Richmond, Indiana before being transferred to Effingham, Illinois. He later retired from Conrail Railroad while living in Effingham after 25 years of service.
In January, 1995 he and his wife, Rhonda Beckman, moved to Florida where they eventually settled in the Sun 'n Lake community where they made a multitude of friends while playing many rounds of golf.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Rhonda Worthington Beckman; two daughters, Barbara Lynn Beckman-Black (Charles) of Richmond, Indiana, and Sheryl Kaye Beckman-Locke (Dwayne) of Woodbridge, Virginia; one son, David James Beckman (Jennifer) of Carmel, Indiana; one brother, John Edward Beckman (Sara) of Columbia, South Carolina. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one niece.
