LaVange D. Shuler, age 92 of Effingham, formerly of Olney, passed away on April 7, 2017 in Effingham, Il. LaVange was born to Rolland Willford and Allatha Belle (Moody) Dunlap on February 05, 1925. She married Ray Shuler on August 18, 1946 in Albion, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2016.
LaVange was a music teacher for many years. She taught piano, organ, and was a choir director. LaVange graduated from Albion High School in 1945 and went on to attend Evansville University and Eastern Illinois University. She worked as a music teacher at the Noble Grade School from 1946-47 and then spent the remainder of her career, over 60 years, teaching piano and organ at home. She also played at various churches over the years. LaVange enjoyed traveling with her husband and they visited each state in the US. They also traveled to Mexico and Canada. LaVange took pleasure in quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She also enjoyed puzzles and games. She took pleasure in visiting with friends and family. She was a member of the Olney Southern Baptist Church, and the Effingham 1st Baptist Church.
Lavange is survived by Sons, Larry Ray Shuler and wife Pat of Oklahoma City, OK; William Arthur Shuler and wife Cheryl of Effingham, IL; Jack Wayne Shuler and wife Jean of Columbia, IL; and Dale Roland Shuler and wife Carla of Carmi, IL; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Sisters, Faith Poor, Shirley Bailey, and Ethelee Bunfill; and several nieces and nephews.
LaVange is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Brother R.W. Dunlap Jr., and one son James Alan Shuler.
