Linda's Story

Linda S. (Ordner) Corray entered into rest on August 17, 2017 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV with her family at her bedside. Linda Corray was born November 20, 1946 at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, IL. She was the third daughter of six children of Leroy and Bertha Ordner of Teutopolis, IL. Linda grew up on her family's dairy farm just east of Teutopolis, IL and graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1964. She moved to Urbana, IL where she attended and graduated from Illinois Commercial College.
She was employed as a Legal Assistant at Phillips, Phebus, Tummelson & Bryan Law Offices in Urbana. She met and married CW 'Bill' Corray from Urbana, IL on September 12, 1970 at the First Baptist Church of Urbana. She continued to work and live in Urbana until moving to Highland, IL in March 1976 when her husband accepted employment with B-Line Systems Inc.
Linda was very active in school and community organizations serving as Chairperson of the Highland PTA Spring Carnival for over 5 years. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother in the early eighties. Linda was a dedicated mother and homemaker and cherished her many friends and family.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling domestically as well as internationally. She especially enjoyed their many winters spent in Hawaii and Florida as well as summers in Michigan and Alaska and the Canadian Maritime Providences. She also enjoyed international travel and went on six cruises. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1988, she and Bill were able to travel in their Motor Coach throughout the country, logging over 320,000 miles.
Linda is survived by her husband and two sons, Jason W. (Stephanie) Corray of Kirkwood, MO, and Jeremy L. (Natalia) Corray and their children Diego W. Corray and Daniela L. Corray of Ballwin, MO. She is also survived by two sisters, Judy Bence and Becky Ordner of Effingham, IL; and two brothers, Morris and Kevin Ordner, also of Effingham, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Pulsford of Friendswood, TX.
A public celebration of her life and luncheon will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Highland,IL, at the Helvetia Sharpshooters Society Ballroom in Lindendale Park, Highland, IL. Family, friends and acquaintances are invited. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, or The American Cancer Society.
