Marilyn Jean Lynch Kennedy, 70, of Taylorville died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at her residence in Taylorville. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Arizona. Sutton Memorial Homes, Taylorville, is in charge of arrangements. She was born on Jan. 22, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of Alvin Otto and Edith Lynch. She moved to Pana and later Effingham. While in Effingham, she attended St. Anthony High School. She moved to Taylorville and graduated from the Taylorville High School in 1960. She attended Siena Heights in Adrian, Mich., and earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Illinios in Springfield in 1986. She married Patrick Kennedy, they later divorced. Marilyn was a realtor for 35 years; a librarian at the Taylorville Junior High School and St. Mary's School. She was a dedicated mother who enjoyed writing.  She was also a voracious reader and a world traveler. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Scottsdale Area Association of Realtors, an active volunteer of Scottsdale Soroptimist Club; a volunteer librarian at Desert Foothills Library in Cave Creek, Ariz., a lifetime member of American Hackney Horse Society, Society of Southwestern Authors, a supporter and volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Society of Phoenix, Ariz. She is survived by her sons, David (Heidi) Kennedy of Enid, Okla., and John Kennedy, companion Michelle Deschenes, of Belleville; daughters, Carole Kennedy of Taylorville and Cathy (Stuart) Lowrey of Centreville, Va.;  grandchildren, John, Rachel Lowery of Centreville, Va., Jordan and Josephine Kennedy of Enid, Okla., and Emma Jean Kennedy of Belleville; brother, William (Nancy) Lynch of Cornelius, N.C.; nephews, Matthew (Tyhler) Lynch of Arlington, Va., and Grant (Whitney) Lynch of Princeton.
