Mary Jayne's Story
Mary Jayne Hughes, 75, formerly of Effingham, passed away on December 27, 2018 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Enola, PA.
The family is planning a private memorial service at a later date.
Jayne was born May 18, 1942, the daughter of Lake and Madgie (Beck) Evans of Cowden-Herrick.
In Effingham, Jayne worked as a waitress at 76 truckstop, where she would meet her husband of 34 years, Clarence Hughes, Jr. The couple lived happily together in Indianapolis for more than 30 years. They were proud owners of a beauty shop. In 2014, they settled near family in Pennsylvania.
Jayne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence who passed away in July 2017.
The couple are survived by sons, Garrett Wendte, Jr. of Williston, ND, and Gregg Wendte of Enola, PA; their granddaughters, Sheila (Scott) Braun of Effingham, Sierra (Gary) Collver and Emillee Wendte of Rapid City, SD, and Madelline Wendte of Williston, ND; and great-grandchildren Nate, Mara, Owen, Grason, and Beverly.
