Maryellen Lovett, 103, of St. Elmo passed away at 9:31 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at C&A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo. Graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday in Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo. Dan Laack will officiate. Maryellen was born on Feb. 16, 1914, the daughter of Roy and Frederica (Grieder) Smith. She married W. Wilson Lovett on Jan. 16, 1938, in St. Elmo. She was a member of the International Association of Rebekah, HCE and the Methodist Church in St. Elmo. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, doing word search puzzles and bird watching.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Spitler of St. Elmo; two grandchildren, Alison Spitler-Griffith and Aleta Triplett; one great-grandchild, Sierra Triplett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frederica Smith; husband, W. Wilson Lovett; brother, Dan Ritchie; two stepbrothers, Ted and Carl Elam; sister, Rosalie Smith; and one granddaughter, Janice Spitler.
