Richard Cookie L. Cook, 79, of Windsor, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Coen and Reverend Richard Eident officiating. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Windsor Harvest Picnic. The family request casual dress.
Cookie was born June 4, 1938, in Edgewood, IL, the son of James and Lorene (Ealy) Cook. He married Virginia McWhorter on October 29, 1956 in Effingham. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2014. He spent over 50 years working at the Windsor Elevator, also known as Neal Cooper Grain, Bennett Grain or TGM. Cookie was affiliated with the Smyser Christian Church in rural Gays. He was a longtime Cardinals fan and truly cherished time spent with family. He is survived by his children: Gary (Anna) Cook of Mattoon, Richard E. (Paulie) Cook of Salem, Rick (Dolly) Cook of Coles Station, Les (Brenda) Cook of Windsor and Bryon (Beth) Cook of Sullivan; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren plus one on the way; brother, Lonnie (Sharon) Cook of Windsor; sisters, Kay (Jim) Yingst of Farina, Connie Landreth of Effingham and Becky Ray of Greenup.
