Stanley joined the Marine Corps early during the Viet Nam conflict. Afterwards, he pursued a career of a millwright for over thirty years. Ordained as a minister in the Christian Church, Stanley was instrumental in the founding of Coulters Mill Bible Fellowship, a state wide jail/prison ministry. He attended Salt Creek Church in rural Watson, and filled in as an evangelist at several area churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
