Wilma D. Byers, 94, of Louisville passed away at 5 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday. A celebration of life will be at 12 p.m. following the visitation. Interment will be in Keen's Chapel Cemetery, Farina. Wilma was born Monday, May 22, 1922 in Effingham County, the daughter of the late John Horner and the late Alma (Poynter) Horner. She married Howard Byers in Benton, MO in the year 1970.
She was employed as a CNA by Clay County Hospital for 20 plus years and was a member of Iola Cavalry Apostolic Church.
Wilma is survived by sons, Delane (Paulette) Byers of Taylorville, Cleon (Dollie) Byers of Dalton City, Randy (Sandy) Byers of Louisville, and Bobby (Brenda) Byers of Mason; daughter, Phyllis (James) Allison of Flora; daughter-in-law, Nancy Byers of Louisville; brother, Donald Horner of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Kristina (Joey) Seay of Louisville, Melissa (fiance Brad Anderson) Krantz of Louisville, Nick Byers of Cleveland, TN, Stacy Byers of Effingham, Matt (Tammy) Byers of Louisville, Brett Byers of Louisville, James (Jessica) Byers of Effingham, Chip Byers of Taylorville, Wendy Byers of Phoenix, AZ, Pam (Todd) O'Brien of Mt. Zion, Rodney (Cathy) Byers of Mt. Zion, Wayne (Candy) Allison of Xenia, and Tony Allison of Clay City; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; son Sam Byers; brother Ronald Horner; and granddaughter, Amanda Byers.
