Charles Patrick "Pat" Sullivan, age 76, formerly of Mattoon IL, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Breeze Park in St. Charles, MO, at 10:41 A.M.
Services honoring his life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 22, 2017 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 with Reverend Paul Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow the services at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.
Mr. Sullivan was born July 4, 1941 in Terra Haute, IN, the son of Charles and Mary (Holmes) Sullivan. He married Rebecca "Becky" (Bouck) Sullivan on August 4, 1962.
Pat is survived by his loving wife Becky (Bouck) Sullivan of St. Charles, MO; one daughter, Amy Komnick and husband Kevin of Chesterfield, MO; two sons, Gary Sullivan and wife Pamela of Erie, PA; William Sullivan of Wood River, IL; four brothers, Frank Sullivan and wife Carol of Colorado; Tim Sullivan and wife Rebecca of Ellijay, GA; Mike Sullivan and wife Linda of Mattoon, IL; Dan Sullivan and wife Priscilla of Mattoon, IL; three sisters, Mary Alice Ames of Mattoon, IL; Jody Sniff and husband Don of Pueblo West, CO; Anna Cook and husband Gary of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Nolan and Natalie Komnick of Chesterfield, MO and Mary and Patrick Sullivan of Erie, PA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John Sullivan.
Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Lutheran Church. Pat was a retired principal of Roxana High School from July 1994 till June of 2005, and former Principal of Carlyle High School and Beecher City High School, all of Illinois. He also taught at Mansfield High School from 1966 to 1968, Arcola High School from 1968 to 1977. He was involved in the farm implement business, tractor and truck sales, and former co-owner of Dougherty-Sullivan John Deere Dealership in Effingham, IL. He was also member of the Lions Club of East Alton, IL, and former President of the Board of Directors of IHSA (Illinois High School Association). He enjoyed watching sports, particularly rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals. His hobbies included boating, fishing, snowmobile riding, golfing, and badgering Cub fans. Mr. Sullivan will be dearly missed.
