Robert "Bob" Lustig, age 65, of Bradley, formerly of Effingham, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017.
He was born on November 28, 1951 in Flora, the son of Cletus and Isabel (Lidy) Lustig.
Bob was a math teacher and coach at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School until he retired in 2006. He continued to teach with the BBCHS Homebound Student Program until May 2017.
Bob coached girls basketball & softball, boys basketball, and baseball for BBCHS. He was on the coaching staff for the 2001 BBCHS State Baseball Championship team. He also kept stats for varsity football.
His love of sports, especially baseball, was his life passion. He played fast-pitch softball for the Kankakee Feds and baseball for the Effingham Comets. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and never missed watching them play on T.V. or at the stadium.
Friends and family will miss him and his sense of humor. He will be remembered for his love of teaching and sports.
Surviving are one sister, Ellen Lustig of Maui; one uncle, Nobert Probst of Island Grove; two nephews, Bryan Naauao-Thurman of Maui and Joseph Lustig of Effingham; two nieces, Rachael Lustig of San Jose and Jackie Lustig of Effingham; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Lustig.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or the BBCHS Academic Foundation.
