Carl D. Fergus II, 54, of Smithville, Tennessee formerly of Effingham, IL and FL peacefully passed from this world to his heavenly home on Monday, August 26, 2019. He was born January 31, 1965, Madison, WI, the son of Fred and Joyce Fergus. Carl attended Oshkosh North High School and graduated from Effingham High School in 1983 where he was on the Effingham Hearts basketball team. He attended Lakeland College, Mattoon, IL and was a graduate of the MTC Truck Training School, St. Louis, MO. He will always be remembered as a loving family man, a generous "Pap", and a faithful friend. We were all lucky to have his bright big love and smile. He touched so many lives from the young to the elderly. Carl will forever live on in our hearts and we'll cherish the memories. He was a member of the Christian Church, a 1st Degree Freemason at the Center Hill Masonic Lodge #77, Smithville, TN, and Sons of the American Legion. Carl was an avid sports fan: a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan and Stockholder, St. Louis Cardinal and Orlando Magic fan. He also loved playing golf. He was employed by Arab Termite & Pest Control, Effingham, IL for several years. He was currently employed by Big G Express, Shelbyville, TN. Preceded in death by his grandparents: Carl & Mary Fergus, Clarence & Ann Sipple, and nephew Eric David Wente.
Carl is survived by his parents: Fred and Joyce Fergus; brother, Fred Fergus II of Sanford, FL; the love of his life, Sarah (Smith) Fergus; son, Jared (Heather) and grandchildren: Jaxon, Addi, and soon to be Evelyn Smith; son, Kurtis (Kristy) and grandchildren: Nora & Macy Jo Dykes; Jodi Wente Durre and family Andrew, Madelyn, and Jacob Austin. Uncle Bob (Debbie) Fergus; cousins: Greg Fergus, Bryan Fergus, Jenifer Stafford, and Josh Fergus; Aunt Janice Dinerstein, cousins: Ann (Shua), Payne, and Harry Gambill; Great Aunt Maxine Smith, Great Aunt Dorothy & Great Uncle Evertt Wade, and Great Aunt Marcella Gretzinger; Sister-in-law Beverly & Tom Dirkes and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be sorely missed by his dogs, Annie and Hoss. The Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, October 19th, 2019, 2 pm CDT at the First United Methodist Church, 108 N. 4th Street, Smithville, TN 37166. Following the service, a fellowship meal will be served at the Fellowship Christian Center. Green Bay Packer attire is welcome.
