Noble, IL - Cynthia "Cindy" Schnell, 66, of Noble, IL, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, In.

Cindy was born on September 13, 1959 in Dallas, TX to parents, Rev. Bill and Wilma (Cook) Rennels. She married Joe Vernon Schnell on May 25, 1980, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2020.

Cindy is survived by her son, Nicholas Schnell and wife Andrea of Noble; daughter, Elizabeth Johns and husband Jason of Effingham, IL; grandchildren, Bentley, Madilynn, Case, Ellamae, and Meela Schnell, Benjamin Schuetz, Elliott Johns, Jersey and Josilyn Hernandez, and Brooklyn Johns; mother, Wilma Rennels; brother, David Rennels; and nephews, Nathan Rennels and Matthew Schnell; niece, Jessica Gentry; and brothers-in-law, Marion (Donna) Schnell and Curtis (Gloria) Schnell.

Preceded in death by husband, Joe Schnell; father, Bill Rennels; brothers- in-law, Wayne Schnell and Allen Schnell; and sister-in-law, Karen Rennels.

Cindy achieved her Masters in Economics from Eastern Illinois University and attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses and was a member of the Glenwood Church where she was a member of the choir.

Cindy loved to sing! She would drive miles to sing; whether it was at church, in Kinmundy or to the Edgewood Opry. Cindy sang almost any genre of music.

Cindy enjoyed crafting, crocheting, taking nature pictures, and arranging flowers. She took delight in passing her knowledge of crocheting onto her grandchildren.

Cindy had a passion for genealogy. During her search through her own genealogy, she was able to track her roots back to the American Revolution, which led her to joining the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Cindy truly loved spending time with her many grandchildren. She made an attempt to see as many of her grandchildren's sporting events and activities as possible. She will be missed by not only her family but by the many communities of which she was a part of.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Glenwood Church in Noble.

Interment will follow at Hanna Cemetery in Noble.
