Elinor May Wolford Obituary

Elinor May Wolford, 90, of Neoga passed away at 9:10 am Monday, April 3, 2023, at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.

She was born on January 9, 1933, in rural Dietrich, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Meta (Schormann) Wands. She was the eldest of 6 children born to Arthur and Meta. She attended Lincoln Christian College. Elinor married James Wolford on August 27, 1956, and they shared 41 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 5, 1998,

Elinor was a florist for many years having worked at D&D Flowers in Greenup, Arndt's in Newton, and Flowers by Martin's in Effingham throughout her career. She also owned and operated Wolford's Flowers and Gifts in Newton for over 10 years. She was a member of the Toledo Christian Church and enjoyed playing gospel hymns on the piano and organ at church.

Elinor is survived by her 2 children: Randall Wolford of Effingham and Rick (Lori) Wolford of rural Wheeler. 1 grandchild: Justin Wolford of Indianapolis, IN. Siblings: Wanda (Bruce) Johnson of San Marcos, CA, Dale (Sarah) Wands of Rolla, MO, and Darlene (Marvin) Leighty of Bridgeport, IL. 2 sisters-in law: Carolyn Wands of Danville, IL, and Donna (Kenneth) Huntsman of Moberly, MO. And several nieces and nephews.

Elinor was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Gene Wands and Eldon Wands.

It was Elinor's wishes for cremation, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Elinor's name to the GoFundMe account for 'The Holtmeyer Family - Oliver, Kayla & Wes'.
