James S. McDonald
James S. "Jim" McDonald, 65, of Effingham, IL, Formerly of Mount Vernon, IL passed away at 5:38 am January 21, 2020 at the Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois. He was born July 19, 1954 in Mount Vernon, IL to the late Merritt "Mossey" McDonald and Betty (Faulkner) McDonald. James married Patty (Holtz) McDonald on May 26, 1984 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 36 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Patty (Holtz) McDonald, Jim is survived by his niece, Courtney Lane Sammons in Mount Vernon, Illinois; beloved dog, Benson; and sister-in-law, Donna Wood and husband, J. Nelson of Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Jim was preceded in death by parents and two sisters, Donna McDonald and Joyce McVey.

Jim worked as a Buyer and Salesman at the Samuel-Midco Music Company until retirement. Later, he worked part time at Sears as a Salesman in Effingham, Illinois. Jim had a passion for golf and loved the Saint Louis Cardinals. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Jim's honor to the donors choice.

Jim was a man of infinite wisdom and was always happy to help anywhere he could. A great man was lost too soon.

I worked with Jim at Midco ( part of Samuels) he had a heart of gold and helped me with product information . He was a great co -worker , friend to all.
