Nancy J. Hewing, 81 of Teutopolis, passed peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, with a 3:45 pm CCW rosary. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the trust of Gina Hewing.

Nancy was born December 20, 1943 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, the daughter of Tony and Caroline (Hagen) Probst of Bishop. She graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1961. Nancy married Edward J. Hewing of Sigel on November 28, 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1984.

Nancy had a love for people and the community. She spent 40 years of her life babysitting hundreds of different children. She was an avid basketball and St. Louis Cardinal fan. Nancy loved participating in the community by singing in the church choir for many years and working at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for 14 years.

Nancy is survived by her children, Mark (Susan) Hewing, William "Bill" (Sarah) Hewing and their children, Wyatt, Cauy, and Emma; Eric (Linda) Hewing and their children, Maylin and Hagen; Mary Kay (Robert) Coventry and their children, Justis (fiancé, Makayla) Hutson, and Charis; Lisa (Jay) Westendorf and their children, Korynn, Logan, Brianna, and Leslie; Gina Hewing; and Karla (J) Dixon and their children Jeremia and Mackynzie; siblings, David (Joyce) Probst, Richard (June) Probst, Normalee Shoemaker, and Kathy (Jay) Vogel; sister-in-law, Barb Hewing; brothers-in-law, Don Hewing and Arthur Hewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; in-laws, Robert Hewing, Kenneth and Ann Hewing, James Hewing, Vivian Hewing, Jane Hewing, and Anne Hewing.
